Pitching in to help save environment

A project on a larger scale kicked off Monday in Sioux Falls. City and business leaders announced a new coalition - the Green Project - to inspire more sustainable living in the city.

Sioux Falls Bike Trail Expands
Submitted by dclements0 on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 16:24On Friday, April 11, a ground breaking ceremony will be held at 1:30pm in Dunham Park to initiate the to Legacy Park (12th Street) expansion of the Sioux Falls Bike Trail system.
This is the beginning of a bike trail expansion that is proposed to eventually extend to the Tea Ellis Road to the west and north to Maple Street in future years. There are also plans to extend the bike trail east from Cliff Ave to the Great Bear Ski Area sometime in 2008, but no work has begun as yet.
More Trails For Bicycle Commuters Proposed
Submitted by dclements0 on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 16:10With gas prices so high, more people are choosing to ride their bikes to where they need to go, whether it be work, school or a friend's house. The Parks and Recreation Department in Rapid City wants to accommodate those riders. The city has nearly $2 million in federal greenway funds to spend, so officials are proposing new bicycle trail routes that would connect residential and commercial areas.
There is a demand for more bicycle trails in Rapid City, says rider Josh Dailey.
